Parking
There are no parking lots at Daytona, except for the
backstretch stands. We arrived by airplane on Thursday and drove up from Orlando. We
decided we had better go and check out the track and parking. Well, we got lucky and
directly across from the souvenier trailers, there was a mall. They were letting the race
fans park there.
On the day of the race, we got to the mall at 6:00 a.m.
and still had to park in the back. I think they said they open the mall parking lot at
5:30 a.m., but what was really nice was the mall itself opened up at 7:00 a.m.
Traffic
After the race, we were on the road and back in Orlando
that night within 1:15 minutes. Not bad, considering it takes about 45 minutes regular to
drive to Orlando from Daytona. Again we got in a line that had police directing traffic
and we were directed down a back road and came out in Ormond Beach, which is the next exit
after Daytona going North on I-95. The traffic going South on 95 to 4 was not bad, but the
traffic going North on 95 was bumper to bumper.
Seats
We thought the facility was nice, but I thought
Charlotte offered a little more, such as nicer restrooms, better selection of food. But
Daytona loud speakers were clearer and Daytona had larger jumbo screens.
Race-related Events
I really didn't have much time to get any information
about going on's around Daytona, but we went over to Volusia to watch the dirt races, and
they were fun.
